The War
Summary: Both Ivory and Ebony grew very envious of each other are caused a war, creating the coyotes from mud. Vivia, in order to stop this, covered them with berries to change and mix up their coat colors. Both Ebony and Ivory were sent to the sky, where Vivia holds them both away from each other.
The War, also known as the Dark Ages, was a dark time indeed. After many years of peaceful living and great happiness through the Land, Ebony and Ivory started to have rivalry. They would compete to see who they could make happiest, or how many people they could say in one day.
One day, a rainy day as fate may have it, both coyotes ran up to each other and shouted, "I am the greater god!" We may never know who said it first, but legend goes that after that moment, both coyote's eyes went red. They began to plan a war. The rain that day had made the dirt of the Land muddy and mushy. Using this mud, both coyotes molded a whole army of coyotes, copies of themselves. The coyotes were brown, with mixes of gray markings. Each coyote was trained to fight against the other. Both Ivory and Ebony were ready for battle.
Vivia did not like this at all, since she knew it would only end in disaster. Using her god powers, she ordered all of the other species, rabbits, deer, squirrels, etc. to go and promote peace. This, did not go well, since the coyotes were made to fight everything but their own kind. This is also why the coyotes of the Land hunt rabbits, deer and squirrels, as well as other animals.
The two coyote gods sounded war on the day after making their armies. The Troops charged into battle, but Vivia refused to let this go on. So, she made the Troops confused on who was who by splattering them with dark berries. This made them have different color variations. All of the coyotes stood, confused. Ivory and Ebony were quite angry.
On the third day of battling, or rather standing around confused, both gods got quite angry with Vivia. They began to shout insults. Vivia, angry with both of them, said one simple phrase that would change the Land forever. "Non occides." which translates to "Thou shall not kill." Both gods exploded into large sparks as they're remains were spread throughout the sky.
Vivia looked down at her kingdom, and told the law of the land to the birds. The birds, lead by Father Eagle, one of the first Eagles to be created, then spread it through the forest, making beautiful music while spreading the message. Vivia, wanting to make sure the gods would not cause any more trouble, rose up into the sky and make a large silver band across it, which we now call "The Silver." All the creatures who die go to the Silver, some disappearing over the horizon, those who are bad, and some joining Vivia in peace and harmony, those who are good.
Occasionally, Ebony or Ivory will gain enough power to fly across the sky, looking for the other god, making a streak across the sky (shooting stars).
